About BettyAshton

BettyAshton grew up in Roanoke, VA where she began studying the harp at 9 years old.  She was a member of the Roanoke Youth Symphony and performed all over the Roanoke Valley, playing the harp in her first wedding at 11 years old.  A music scholarship to Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music took BettyAshton to Nashville, where she received a degree in Harp Performance.  She spent nearly two decades playing the harp professionally in and around Nashville at venues such as the Ryman, The Country Music Hall of Fame, The Governor's Residence, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, The Frist Center for Visual Arts.  She performed with Symphony orchestras in Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky.  She also served as the musician in Residence at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from 2001 until 2011.  

A big part of BettyAshton's growth and joy as a musician was getting to write and create music with songwriters in Nashville.  She added an electric harp to her collection, allowing her to pursue creative ventures with all sorts of musical genres.  One of the highlights being a performance at the 2014 GMA Dove Awards with Reach Recording artists Trip Lee, KB, Tedashii, Andy Mineo and Lecrae.  

BettyAshton has now returned to the Roanoke area and resides on Smith Mountain Lake where she enjoys playing the harp in the many beautiful venues around Central and Southwestern Virginia.  It is her goal to help customize the music for your wedding or event to make it an incredibly special event.
